Second of the Three Trials, in which the Guardian-to-be must face their darkest fear.

In April's case, her greatest fear is neither water nor spiders, as she muses in her diary, but turns out to be facing the spectre of her abusive father in a reconstruction of her childhood kitchen as a six year old. She reconciles with him by reminding him that he does still love her, despite years of resentment and abuse, using the symbol of the gold ring he gave her for her sixteenth birthday.
